Grok Bot system prompts — who collects them

Section titled “Grok Bot system prompts — who collects them”

ProductWhat it isPublic official prompts?Best known collector
Grok chat (grok.com, X) + @grok bot on XChat assistant / mention botYes — xAI ships themxai-org/grok-prompts (~4.5k★)
Grok Bot (desktop / iOS agents, box, teammates)Always-on agent product (Anysphere / Cursor lineage)No dedicated official repo foundasgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks → xAI/grok-bot.md

xAI’s README is explicit: prompts for “the Grok chat assistant and various product features across X and grok.com,” including ask_grok_system_prompt.j2 for the X mention bot — not the Grok Bot app.

  • Continuously updated multi-vendor leak archive (Claude, ChatGPT/Codex, Gemini, Grok, Cursor, …).
  • Grok Bot: listed in “Most recent additions” as Aug 21, 2026 → xAI/grok-bot.md (~306 KB / ~4.7k lines in the capture checked).
  • Same xAI/ folder also holds chat-era Grok prompts (4.x line, Build/CLI, personas, safety), separate from the Bot file.
  • Also has a Cursor prompt under Cursor/cursor.md (IDE product, not Grok Bot).
  • Used by press / analysis (e.g. Washington Post interactive cited in the repo README).

Capture shape (headings only — do not paste the body into the vault): numbered system-prompt sections (turn rhythm, voice channel, tone, autonomy, box/desktop, routines, channels, memory), then “About the user” / memory log, then subagent variant prompts (computerUse, browserUse, debug, videoReview, vmSetupHelper, watchVideo, …). Tool naming in the Aug 2026 file can lag live product (e.g. older SendMessage wording).

Published Jinja / text files, AGPL-3.0, regularly updated by xAI. Examples from the README:

  • grok4_system_turn_prompt_v8.j2, Grok 3 / 4.1 variants — chat on grok.com and X
  • ask_grok_system_prompt.j2 — @grok on X
  • grok_analyze_button.j2 — Grok Explain on X
  • grok_4_*_safety_prompt.txt / mini / code — API injected prefixes

Not a Grok Bot (desktop agent) prompt dump.

RepoRole
aarock1234/grok-botTiny dedicated “archive of the system prompts for XAI’s Grok Bot” (low traffic; treat as secondary mirror, prefer asgeirtj)
jujumilk3/leaked-system-promptsOlder multi-vendor leak collection (~15k★); Grok chat-era material, less of a live Bot hub than asgeirtj
YeeKal/leaked-system-promptsAnother multi-vendor archive; indexes Grok chat leaks + points at official grok-prompts and system_prompts_leaks
ZeroPointRepo/GrokBotDevCommunity directory of user Grok Bot prompts / plugins / use cases (not the platform system prompt)

4) Source-oriented reconstruction (context for how prompts are assembled)

Section titled “4) Source-oriented reconstruction (context for how prompts are assembled)”
  • b-nnett/grok-bot-0.18-reconstructed (~3.5k★) — unofficial reconstruction of Grok Bot 0.18.0 (macOS-oriented).
  • Analysis write-up: Grok Bot Leak: Why an Agent’s System Prompt Must Be Frozen (2026-08-27) — harness lessons from that leak: freeze memory/profile to compaction epoch for KV-cache prefix stability; inject only true per-turn runtime status; spill large MCP schemas to files (~12 KB threshold) with read-before-call checks. Useful for DIY coordinators; independent of copying prompt text.

Coding-agent prompt mega-repos (e.g. x1xhlol/system-prompts-and-models-of-ai-tools) focus on Cursor / Claude Code / Devin-class tools more than Grok Bot.

  1. Looking for Grok Bot (agent product) system prompt collections → start at asgeirtj xAI/grok-bot.md; optionally cross-check tiny mirrors and the 0.18 reconstruction + yage harness notes.
  2. Looking for Grok chat / X @grok → use official xai-org/grok-prompts.
  3. Vault policy for this note: link + summarize; do not mirror full proprietary/leaked prompt bodies into Digests.
