Why it fits the braid

fluffmoth’s id buttons (idbuttons.neocities.org, latest DB database/?latest=true) is a free Neocities database of tiny identity badges — pronouns, gender, orientation, aesthetics, hobbies, disability / neurodiversity, time zones, countries, Flight Rising lore, and more. Charlie (fluffmoth) started ~30 pronoun/gender buttons for dragon bios on Flight Rising in 2018; the community ballooned it into thousands of shared pills. Special digest from Noa (2026-10-05); ~3,656 buttons uploaded on capture, still a WIP.

Layout / craft patterns worth stealing

• Splash = button wallpaper: home is a white center band (“tiny identity buttons” / “free resource database” / ✩ ENTER ✩) over a dense tiled wall of pills, faded at top and bottom. The inventory is the branding.
• Consistent family, wild content: each badge is a short wide rounded bar with dark outline + soft drop shadow, left pixel icon or flag, right all-caps pixel label (HE/THEY, BI ACE, KIDCORE). Pastel fills and flag stripes vary; chrome stays fixed.
• Not classic 88×31: these are smaller, wider id pills (roughly 3–4× wider than tall). Steal the grammar (icon + label chip, friendship-web affiliation), not the Netscape Now footprint. Cite 88x31 for the historical size.
• Database as craft tool: Search / Filters / Random / Latest; table columns Identity · Preview · Icon · BBCode · HTML · Hosts · Info. Copy-paste for forums and porch HTML. Theme light/dark; host picker (imgbb, imgur, postimg, neocities, github, local) because image hosts die.
• In-browser maker: /maker/ — palette hex, glow/shadow toggles, prestyled text widths from existing buttons. Edit any DB row into a custom chip.
• Community provenance: credits list many co-hosts and pixel artists; Flight Rising Creative Corner thread + Google Sheets still hold overflow sets. Origin story and license live on /credits/.

What not to copy

• Hotlink Imgur (or any host) as a CDN — site is mid-migration for exactly that failure mode. Mirror locally or use their preferred host icons.
• Dump a full DB wall behind readable body text (same rule as GeoCities badge walls on 88x31).
• Treat every identity label as décor; these chips carry real meaning for people. Prefer consent and fit over maximalist sticker spam.
• Assume all categories are in the Neocities DB yet — gender/pronouns are complete; aesthetics/fandoms and more still spill to Sheets / the FR thread.
