Section titled “Gem: EDM radio (happiesthardcore) — anime-sky rave radio / Webdeck player / stamp wall”

EDM radio (happiesthardcore.neocities.org) is a one-page Neocities “radio station” for nightcore, happy hardcore, dream trance and eurobeat: a ridged glassy card floating on an anime cloud sky, an angel-wing banner reading “Turn on shuffle and enjoy!”, a hot-pink genre marquee across the top, a skinned YouTube jukebox (Webdeck Player, HEAVENLY theme, a 140-track playlist), a shoutbox, and a wall of DeviantArt-era stamps fenced by RAVE! RAVE! RAVE! banners. It’s the most literal Nightcore packaging we’ve gemmed so far, wrapped in Frutiger Aero sky-and-glass chrome with Y2K / Nekoweb and plain HTML stamp culture. The pale teal-grey card palette (#dce3e1, darkslategrey text, teal accent) also sits closer to Requiem Garden sage than most pink porches do.

Morning dig: rotated off Nekoweb Districts (yesterday) to Neocities browse, tag nightcore, a first for the Nightcore strand. Runner-up on the same tag was nightcoreclub.net (pastel window-chrome portal with .exe tiles), worth a look another day.

  • The music is the hero module. No intro paragraph and no about-me: the page’s centre column is a player, and the banner text is an instruction (“Turn on shuffle and enjoy!”). For a Nightcore-flavoured porch, lead with a now-playing deck, not prose.
  • Skinned YouTube jukebox. Webdeck Player v1.0 is a tiny self-hosted iframe (webdeck-player/index.html + script.js) that wraps the YouTube IFrame API in Winamp-style chrome: LCD status line (STOPPED 1/140 0:00/3:54), volume slider, video toggle, shuffle, prev/play/stop/next. Playlists and themes are plain JS maps (myPlaylists, myThemes = { SILVER, HEAVENLY }), and each theme is just a folder of button PNGs + one CSS file. It’s a cheap way to get media-player skeuomorphism without hosting audio.
  • Genre marquee as tagline. The top strip scrolls nightcore · hardcore · makina · dream trance · happy hardcore · rave · eurobeat · jumpstyle · hyperpop · mashcore · eurodance in hotpink at 20pt. A small marquee.js moves it with requestAnimationFrame + translate3d, cloning the text to fill the width, so it’s smooth and avoids the deprecated <marquee> tag. Taxonomy as decoration.
  • Light/dark as two moods, not one toggle. The DARK nav pill links to a whole separate darkmode.html: moonlit anime wallpaper, mint-on-black player skin, a different banner, and a different genre list (hardstyle, hardbass, frenchcore, breakcore, gabber, J-core, speedcore). The dark page is the after-midnight set, which is a lovely way to think about theme switching.
  • Free template, personalised hard. The shell is ribo.zone’s cyanobacteria.css layout (credited in the footer): a max-width: 55rem flex card with 6px ridge border + 3px white outline offset 4px, .small / .half / .full flex columns, and a repeating-radial-gradient dot texture over the card background. Proof that a shared template plus wallpaper, banner and widgets reads as fully handmade.
  • Ridge + gradient = cheap glass. Every panel is 2px ridge + linear-gradient(white → rgba(240,248,255,.8)), and nav links are left-to-right gradient pills that brighten on hover. Over a sky photo that’s 90% of the Aero/Win7 glass feel with zero blur filters.
  • Stamp wall bracketed by banners. Roughly 40 DeviantArt stamps (99×56) packed into a centred block between two rows of RAVE! banners. The repeated banner works as a frame, so the chaos reads as one object. It’s the same move as an 88×31 wall, at stamp size (88x31).
  • Presence widgets. Sidebar “listening right now !” is a visitor counter reframed as an audience count, then a pixel-bunny gif and a tall PicMix doll. The shoutbox (cbox) under the player turns the page into a tiny club: “TRANCE FOREVER”, “hands up will never die!”.

  • Placeholder residue: four nav items are literally link, and two sections still say “half width section” from the template. Charming, but ship the real labels.
  • Leaning entirely on third-party embeds (YouTube, cbox, gnrcounter) means the page goes silent if any of them changes, and the site even warns “If the player doesn’t work try disabling adblock.” Keep the deck chrome but self-host or degrade gracefully.
  • Several stamps are crude in-jokes or drug/NSFW-adjacent. Take the stamp-wall structure; curate the stamps.
  • Two whole HTML pages for light/dark doubles maintenance. Steal the idea of two moods, implemented as one page with swapped CSS variables and assets.
  • Anime art and stamps belong to other artists; use your own or credited pieces.
